Driver for 5 Phase Motor Stepper Pentagon
November 20, 2008 at 3:58 pm 44 comments
Finally I have finished my motor stepper driver with 3xL298…its work great,
Thats the picture..
ok…i will post the schematic of 3xL298, here they are :
This 3 schematics is one packet…it must be builded together…having fun brur..
Some people request a larger schematic, This is the schematic in a PDF file :
1. main
2.3xL298
3.supply
Anyone need CNC part and networking you can see:
http://www.berselancar.com
I’m waiting your review, it is a glorious gift..thanks

dear ferry
sorry, i cannot get an internet to look my blogs for long time…
I have 2 kind of these driver, 2xl298 and 3xl298
which one do you want to build? so i can help you to share this

Hello,
Could you share your the schematic of 3xL298 driver? Could you explain how to calculate a current limitting resistors? Thank you very much.
Best regard,
Thanh
Hi Thanh…
Ok I will post my schematic of 3xL298 at PDF file, please see at the 3xl298 page…by the way I never try yet to calculate limiting resistor…i just follow that describe at the datasheet of L298 which use 0.5 ohm resistor…but you can do that. Find the Voltage at the resistor (Vr), then you can use this formula
I = V / R
maybe it can help you.

Hello Nastelroy,
I checked your complete blog and don’t found anything.
Your idea to ude the L298 is a very good idea. I already assembled one card based on your schematic, and tried to write a program for a pic, but I have some difficulties.
You already shared your schematic, can you share also info on your program?
Thanks
Olivier

Hi Nastelroy,
thnx for the circuit….i have to drive vexta pk569auha 5 phase stepper(3A,1.5v…)cud u please help me on some queries pls:
1) l298 only gives 2A per phase so what can i do?use an amplifier at its o/p or something….
2) when we give 0 to any l298 i/p so actually it sinks current (connects it to ground) from the respective output terminal of coil or not?
thnx anyway………

Hi Nastelroy.
I trying setup the driver (5 phases), but no start and manually i rotate the shaft, and run, at high speed with low torque. At low speed not run. Can you help me?
Regards, Javier

Hello Javier,
Sorry for late reply. I have some question for you,
– how much your supply voltage ?
– how much the current that flows in your R sense?
As your explanation above, I think Your stepper need more current.
regards,
Nastelroy

This is Great!
But I have a couple questions:
1)Is this for pentagon 5 phase topology?
2)Can this be utilized with any micro controller? I am using arduino
3)And with the l298, does it not matter what voltage supply I use, because I need to limit my current to 0.75A/phase. So will the L298 do this using the current sensing?
16. Andrew | January 4, 2013 at 6:56 pm
What does INH1, INH2…..mean on your diagram in comparison to input1, input2….and component P12, P11
17. nastelroy | January 8, 2013 at 2:23 am
INH1 and INH2 is to enable the L298 each channel
18. Andrew | January 8, 2013 at 3:05 am
Yes, I figured it out after some time of looking it over. But thank you for your help.
19. Andrew | January 8, 2013 at 3:06 am
Would you be able to send me your code for running this driver? It would be much appreciated. I am using an arduino so the code will have to be adjusted, but It will give me a good guide line.

Hi would you mind sharing which blog platform you’re working with? I’m
planning to start my own blog soon but I’m having a hard time choosing between BlogEngine/Wordpress/B2evolution and Drupal. The reason I ask is because your layout seems different then most blogs and I’m looking for something unique.
P.S Sorry for being off-topic but I had to ask!
